disprove the opposite

so today, me and my dad went and saw proof, the new gwyneth paltrow film directed by john madden and adapted by daniel day lewis' wife, rebecca miller, from a pulitzer prize winning play by david auburn. i guess i liked it but it was a bit melodramatic, which makes sense since it originated on the stage. still though....

gwyneth played her character too coldly, which really is not much of a surprise. it had the effect of making her very unsympathetic, which made segments of the film frustrating to sit through as gwyneth yells and whines and is generally just very unpleasant. the other cast members did well with what they're given. jake gyllenhaal, anthony hopkins, and hope davis are all strong, even though sometimes their written roles are a bit cliched and one-dimensional.

either way, the movie managed to make math kinda exciting. almost.

heel, rainbows in critical condition

so i highly recommend that you do not step on nails, especially when you're wearing rainbows. you will definitely regret that move.

thank goodness for tetanus shots. but i think while i was outside stepping on sharp objects, i also had the privilege of being bitten by some mosquitoes. pretty sweet.

caffeine and cinema

so i got a blogger, inspired by some of lucy's friends, people that manage to have difficult jobs and still be extra-cultured and extra-cool. makes me jealous...
